The north of the island rises to an impressive height of 479 metres, to provide some stunning views of the small islands north of Lanzarote. The largest of which is La Graciosa with three distinct volcanic peaks, and some stunning and popular beaches.

Mirador del Río - Interior

The former artillery store, Baterias del Rio has been converted according to the designs of César Manrique to provide an excellent viewing area. There are two large panorama windows to view from (clearly shown here), whilst relaxing within, or an external view is available outside at the front and also on top. Here, there are also views of the nearby saltworks, an industry of reduced importance these days.
